The wait is over! School is back in! I officially have a life again! See my little Angels at the bus stop, they were just so excited to go back they could barely contain themselves. Yesterday from work I called my daughter and told her she had 6 more hours to go before her bedtime, cuz it was a school night. She told me to shut up. Rude child!I went for coffee afterwards and two men behind me in line were talking about how they forgot today was the first day of school. They couldn't believe how many people were out there taking pictures of their children getting on the school bus. If they only knew, we were really just taking proof that they were finally leaving us for 6 whole hours after a summer of hell and too much family togetherness!
What did I do with myself for 6 whole kid free hours today you ask?
What else, but take my bff who for the first time in 12 years is kid free herself (ok I drug her kicking and screaming out of her safety zone) to D.C..
Why, you ask?
Because for some reason every time I fart in Fredericksburg the whole town knows my business and I refuse to do anything in this God forsaken Redneckville any longer. That is why!
We went to Springfield and hopped on the Metro. Took that to Chinatown and immediately ran across the street to Starbucks for caffeine and a bathroom. While I was waiting for my friend I looked out the window and was treated with 2 MPD cops on horses.
For my next stop I was in Holster Sniffers Heaven! Every where I looked there was a police car with a uniform in it. I kept seeing FBI vehicles then DUH! It dawned on me we were next to the FBI office building. I am so stupid some times. While we ate/drank lunch we got to watch the big boys come and go from their building!Well decided to have a little fun and treat ourselves today, so we ended up at the Hard Rock Cafe! Our waiter was the bomb, the drinks were excellent and I am pretty sure the food was great. Did I mention the drinks. They were really really good!
On the way back to the car I tried to talk my friend into hopping on a plane and just leaving the world behind. *sigh* She wouldn't go for it and I had to bring her back down here so she could make it home for her kids school bus. So unfortunately I couldn't run away today! There is always tomorrow!
